Following a final hearing before the Fair Work Board (WWC) on December 7, 2020, the FWC approved the Medical Practitioners Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021. (from ea). The EA entered into force on 18 January 2021.The agreement was voted in October 2020 with more than 90% of the votes cast by staff in favour of the agreement. The salary and pension increases of current Canberra Health Service (CHS) employees under the agreement have already been implemented administratively, AMA ACT has secured significant reform on behalf of the territory`s junior medical officers. JMOs receive a significant improvement in remuneration to support their continuing medical education: AMA ACT has also actively supported a number of EA reforms, including the introduction of new appeasement rules for senior medical staff. AMA ACT is committed to doing everything in its power to help our members, both JMOs and senior executives – in the incredible work being done for the ACT community. AMA ACT will continue to work with CHS on behalf of its members, as it is now clear that the case for comprehensive employment reform in the territory`s public sector is more important than ever. AMA ACT will focus its efforts on the JMO`s areas of well-being and fatigue, which are causing growing concerns about increased workload and understaffing. CHS has indicated that ea reimbursement for payday will be introduced on March 4, 2021.
